Unit Hungrily (a.k.a. Good Food Co)
We came together because we were hungry for God;
Then we realized we were all hungry for food too.
‘Til one day when we had reached our fill;
We thought we ought to feed others too.
Our team is composed of members rooted in Ignatian Spirituality through the Christian Life Community (CLC). It has been our desire to find a common, socially-oriented activity as part of our formation as individuals and as a community. Char, who used to work for SIBAT, Inc. (an NGO engaged in rural development) aired her desire to improve the economics of their store that sells organic produce and other products from rural communities. Philip shared the organic culture mindset and the alternative distribution models already in place in Canada. We’ve been discussing these and other ideas since 2009 until a formal proposal was made to the group in early 2010, which was met with much enthusiasm. Thus, we decided to put up a separate organization that will be in charge of creating that crucial link between farmers and stakeholders. This is Good Food Co.
